(Az-Zukhuruf) 43 : 56
فَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ سَلَفًا وَمَثَلًا لِلْآخِرِينَ
Thus, We made them a thing of the past, and an example for the descendants.
“The descendants” mentioned in the verse include those who remained in Egypt after Pharaoh and his troops were drowned, the Children of Israel whom Allah saved by the sea-crossing, and all people from then to the Last Day. See explanation 2: 65-66; 5: 60; 9: 69-70; and 40: 4-5.
